Email with admission notice will be sent to you. A form I-20 for international students will not be issued. Students will study from their home country.

Late applications will be considered. Students will be accepted on a space-available basis.

Undergraduate Study

  • Graduated from high school or at least 18 years of age by start of the program
  • Copy of transcripts in English to assist with advising and course placement
  • TOEFL iBT 61, IELTS 6.0 or the equivalent. See English Proficiency Requirement.

Graduate Study

  • Earned a baccalaureate degree
  • 3.0 GPA in their earned undergraduate degree or in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units completed
  • Copy of transcripts in English
  • TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.5 or the equivalent. See English Proficiency Requirement.

  1. Passport/student immigration documents: F-1 visa students only. Submit copy of passport biographical page (if available). If you are attending another U.S. School on F-1 student visa, also include copy of your F-1 visa, current I-20, and I-94.
  2. Proof of English proficiency: for international students or students whose first language is not English. Submit a copy of your official TOEFL, IELTS or one of the accepted test score as soon as it is available and no later than the application deadline. Scores are valid for two years after the test date. Refer to English Proficiency Requirement for scores and accepted tests.
  3. Financial affidavit and evidence: only for F-1 visa students applying to In-person program and that need an SFSU I-20. Submit a complete Financial Affidavit and a bank letter or financial guarantee demonstrating financial ability to study and live in the US for the duration of the program in order to receive Form I-20. See Financial Affidavitfor minimum requirement amount and additional information.
  4. Transcript: transcript or academic records from university or high school if you have never attended an university/college. Unofficial (scanned copies) transcripts are acceptable. Make sure copies are clear, legible, and include name of institution. If transcript is not in English, submit transcript in the original language and a certified English translation. Transcript will be used to assist in advising and course placement for applicants taking undergraduate-level courses.

  8. With this form you give SFSU permission to communicate with your home university regarding your studies at SFSU.

Although enrollment in SFSU's College of Professional & Global Education is not considered admission to SFSU, an I-20 ("Certificate of Eligibility") for F-1 student status will be issued when students are accepted into a full-time certificate program in the College of Professional & Global Education and require a student visa to enter the country. Students entering the US using an F-1 visa must maintain full-time student status during the time they are enrolled in an approved certificate program at SFSU's College of Professional & Global Education.

Other non-immigrants visa categories (except BC and D visa) may enroll (full or part time) in College of Professional & Global Education courses incidental to their primary status. Contact the Center for Global Engagement for detailed information and restrictions.
